MIAMI GP | WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

MIAMI GP | WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Miami GP (Miami International Autodrome) has been heavily anticipated since contract talks took place 5 years ago. If the video of the simulator is anything to go by then I think we are in for a very good weekend!

It will be exciting to see which driver/team can quickly adapt to this brand new circuit. As we all know Red Bull got the better of Ferrari in Imola, a historic track where each team has massive amounts of data for each apex, bump & piece of tarmac on the circuit. Miami is a completely different ball game. Both teams will be stepping into new territory. We may even see another McLaren on the podium...

Miami has signed a 10 year race deal with F1 so it's expected that this track will be on the calendar for the duration. Austin will still be on the calendar for the end of the season.

Last week it was announced that 95% of the track is complete so we can only imagine that the track is pretty much finished or will be by Monday. Richard Cregan has been assigned to run the Miami operation, he was also heavily involved in the creation of the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.

TRACK DETAILS

Circuit Length - 5.41 km | 3.36 miles
Estimated Top Speed - 320 km/h | 198mph
Corners - 19 | Including 3 Straights

24,000 tons of asphalt.
1,130 tons of concrete.
2,870 Geobrugg Blocks installed with 118 in place along the pit wall.
37,000 feet of concrete barriers & debris fences.
14 pedestrian bridges built for easy access to stands.

You can also view before & after pictures of the track over at https://f1miamigp.com/the-circuit/

You can understand why something like this would take so long to get done. The circuit is right next to the The Hard Rock Stadium home to the NFL team The Miami Dolphins.
